+++ Statement by the Board of Directors on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine +++

We are deeply appalled by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Our thoughts and solidarity are with the people of Ukraine. For many years, we have been working together with our Ukrainian and Russian partners in a spirit of mutual trust and are committed to promoting understanding with the countries in Eastern Europe. What is currently happening was unimaginable for us.

We are not only connected to our partner countries through work contacts, but also by the friendships that have grown over the years. What is unfolding now is a disaster for Ukraine, for Europe – and also for Russia itself.

All projects of the foundation in the Russian Federation have been suspended as of 24.02.2022 due to the war of aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
Reconciliation and understanding between Germans and Russians remains our long-term goal.
